Volunteer at Home
Volunteering your time doesn’t have to mean coming into our kitchen. You can volunteer in many ways that contribute in meaningful ways to those we serve. We are offering ways to get involved, be more aware of food insecurity, and give back to those who Bread for Life serves.
We hope that you and your family will help others using the toolkit and resources provided.
Placemats
Those we serve would love a personalized placemat! They are fun and easy to make and will brighten up lunch for those served by Bread for Life.
Simply decorate a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper or construction paper with a handwritten note or drawing or decorate with stickers. The options are limitless.
Placemats are accepted throughout the year as a special decoration for our meals. Please feel free to drop off your placemats in a ziplock bag and leave under the mat at the front door anytime.
We will use them to decorate the tables in our dining room for those we serve.
Notes of Caring
Did you know that Bread for Life provides hot lunch and cold bag dinner weekdays to those who qualify in our community?
These meals are delivered to their home and served at our facility. Often, this delivery may be the only contact these residents have with our Southington community.
Young people are encouraged to design and create notes of caring for these individuals. These notes provide a heartwarming way for the resident to know that someone is thinking of them, and they are not alone. The notes can be written on 3×5 index cards.
Examples include:
- “Thinking of you”
- “Wishing you a happy day”
- “Praying for you”
- “Smile, it looks good on you”
- “You are loved”
Notes of caring are accepted throughout the year as spiritual nourishment with our meals. Please feel free to drop off your notecards in a ziplock bag and leave under the mat at the front door anytime. We will distribute them with lunches for those we serve.
