Help End Hunger Walk supporters come out strong

Organizers of the 2014 Help End Hunger Walk scheduled for Sunday, April 27 said support has been very generous with dozens of businesses and individuals stepping forward as sponsors. The event supports Southington Bread for Life, the local program that feeds the hungry in the community. Gold sponsors are AE Design Group, Denorfia Builders, Harry E. Cole & Son, and Joe and Kay Calvanese Foundation. Silver sponsors are Serafino Pharmacy and Serra & DelVecchio Insurance.

said Eldon Hafford, executive director of Bread for Life.

Walkers can choose either a 1-mile or 3-mile walk on the Rails to Trails linear trail, which is both stroller and wheelchair accessible. Participants can register for the walk on the day of the event starting at 1 p.m. in the back parking lot of the Southington Community YMCA, 29 High St. Registration can also be made on the Bread for Life website www.southingtonbreadforlife.com. There is a fee of $20 per person and $35 per family. T-shirts will be given to the first 200 registrants. The walk, which will be held rain or shine, will begin at 2 p.m.

After the walk, activities for the whole family will be held at the YMCA including Valentine the Clown, music, refreshments and games. The fundraiser is being run in conjunction with Southington Parks and Recreation Department, Southington Community YMCA and Activate Southington.
