Bread for Life is proud to name Rich Brett the volunteer of the month. Rich has been volunteering with Bread for Life for more than 2 years and helps deliver meals throughout the Southington community.

What brought you to Bread for Life?

My daughter, Sue [Brett], is on the board of directors [Treasurer] and told me Bread for Life was in need of some people to deliver meals, so I went to talk to Missy Cipriano [Director of Operations and Volunteer Services]. I think that was 2 to 2 and a half years ago now.

What do you do currently at Bread for Life?

I started out as an on-call delivery person and now I am on the monthly schedule helping bring meals to our community.

What is your favorite Bread for Life event?

The annual Soup Nite is a great night, especially with all the support it gets from the community.

Can you describe the impact volunteering has had on you?

Before Bread for Life, I volunteered for 12 years delivering meals in Naugatuck and Wolcott, so I guess it is something I enjoy doing.

Advice to those thinking about volunteering?

Try it. You might enjoy it. And you will meet some great people that make Bread for Life as successful as it has been for all these years.
