Bringing Food To Those Who Need It Most

Do you know that approximately 2,500 residents in Southington live below the poverty level? Bread for Life is in operation to ensure that no one goes hungry in our community.  We are creatively solving the problems of food insecurity in Southington.  One of the ways that we are doing this is through our new Mobile Food Pantry program.

Since September when we began this new initiative, we bring our van into neighborhoods that are most economically challenged. We bring non-perishable food items that are kid and family friendly and set out tables and the families of the apartment complex can come and “grocery shop” from the items that we bring.  In a great collaboration with LEAF (Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm), Mark Ramsey has provided fresh produce for our Mobile Food Pantry.

This has been a creative way for Bread for Life to assist in ending hunger in our community by bringing food right to the people who need it the most.   The people who come to the Bread for Life Mobile Food Pantry are so grateful for the free groceries and produce.

Please consider making a contribution to Bread for Life’s annual appeal so that we can continue providing meals and dignity. Contributions in any amount help the cause and support of our goal that no one goes hungry in Southington.  Donations may be mailed to Bread for Life, PO Box 925, Southington, CT 06489 or may be made online at http://southingtonbreadforlife.org/donate-online/
